You don’t need anyone to tell you that the economy is bad right now and has been bad for over three years. Despite all the encouraging talk about the how the economy is bouncing back there still aren’t many opportunities out there for the unemployed. One thing that high unemployment has caused is a rise in the number of folks trying to start their own business. It makes sense because you can’t wait around for ever for the unemployment numbers to go way down and unemployment insurance only lasts so long. If you are thinking about starting a small business the federal government wants to help. It makes sense because if your business takes off you would probably hire some folks which is beneficial to everybody.
Your first stop should be at the Small Business Administration website. The first place to click on is thinking about Starting a Small Business. This section helps you decide whether starting a business is for you are not. This is a big decision that requires a good deal of thought before proceeding.
If you decide to give it a go then there is a section that breaks down the steps you need to take to starting a business. In this section there are also startup resources that give information about various types of small businesses.
Funding is very important and the small business administration is there to help. The SBA has several loans available to those starting out a small business.
